JMC continues drive against adulteration | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 13: Continuing their drive against the adulteration of the milk, under instructions from S C Sawhney, Commissioner Municipal Corporation Jammu, the Municipal Veterinary Officer alongwith field staff visited the areas of Gandhi Nagar, Nai Basti, Satwari, Digiana, Asia Hotel Chowk, Jewel Area etc. During the drive 69 milk cans were checked, out of which one can which was of sub-standard quality / not fit for human consumption was destroyed on spot. The team also visited the meat shops in area of Narwal, Nai Basti, Satwari, Gangyal etc and charged fine from the defaulters for selling the unstamped meat. Apart from this, the team also seized polythene carry bags from these areas. The team had also lifted 15 stray animals from the areas of Amphalla, New Plot, Janipur, Roop Nagar, Talab Tillo etc., and impounded the stray animals in municipal cattle pound. A total fine of Rs. 11600.00 was charged from the erring milk vendors, meat sellers and owners of stray animals. Besides this, the enforcement staff led by Chief Enforcement Officer undertook the drive against the unauthorized constructions and demolished the unauthorized structures at Indira Colony, Janipur and a tin shed at Bhawani Nagar, Janipur, Jammu. The demolition operation was conducted with the help of police force. S C Sawhney, Municipal Commissioner along with team of senior officers and subordinate field staff of Jammu Municipal Corporation visited ward no. 43, 45 and 58 as a part of sanitation drive and took stock of the sanitation work being done by the sanitation staff in these wards.
