| PDP felicitates newly elected Panchayat members | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
RAJOURI, 13 May: People Democratic Party (PDP) today organized a function at Kotranka to felicitate newly elected Sarpanches and Panches of the area.
Addressing the felicitation function, district president of PDP and MLA Darhal, Choudhary Zulfikar Ali called upon the newly elected Panchayat members to work with dedication and sincerity to serve the people. He said that being elected members of the people, it is duty of the Sarpanches and Panches to monitor developmental works in their respective areas so as to ensure quality work.
Choudhary Zulfikar further called upon the newly elected Panchayat members to also monitory implementation of various poverty alleviation schemes so that only deserving and needy people would be benefited from such schemes. He further asked the Panchayat members to come up to the expectations of the common people.
MLA Darhal asked the government to properly empower the Panchayats. He said that without delegating power at grass root level, process of conducting Panchayat elections would be proved a futile exercise.
