1st phase of Rs 35 cr Excise Taxation complex completed: Rather | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, May 13: Construction of the 1st phase of Rs. 35 crore Excise and Taxation complex at Rambagh in Srinagar has been completed in which four circles of the department have already started their functioning. The 2nd phase of the building is scheduled to be completed by 15th of the next month and is expected to be formally inaugurated by the Union Finance Minister, Pranab Mukherji soon. The Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Abdul Rahim Rather accompanied by the Principal Secretary, PWD, K.B. Aggarwal, Commissioner/Secretary Finance, Sudanshu Panday, Commissioner, Excise and Commercial Taxes Mr. G.A. Peer and Managing Director, JKPCC today inspected the complex which is marvellous blend of modern and traditional architecture conceived to provide all the Excise and Taxation related facilities to the traders and business community under the roof. Mr. Rather gave final touch to the arrangements being made to make the office complex fully functional. The Minister directed for completing formalities expeditiously for acquisition of additional 17 kanals of land for the office complex which is spread over an area of 21 kanals with a plinth area of 1.13 Sft. He directed for placing the order for supply of best quality furniture for the office complex to Jammu and Kashmir Industry Limited (JKI) after working out the actual requirements within three days. He directed the representatives of JKI to ensure timely supply of the furniture adding that it shall be a test check for the corporation to prove its capacity and capability, after which other departments shall also be asked to make purchase of furniture from the JKI. The Minister also discussed security plan for the concerned offices and DIG Police Kashmir, who was also present in the meeting and ordered for installation of CCTV cameras, Bio-metrics in the complex adding that this automation would also help in affecting more transparency in the working of the Excise and Taxation Departments. It was informed that a separate modern Sewerage Treatment Plant would be constructed for the complex at a cost of Rs. 17 lakhs. The five storied office complex shall have a total of 8 elevators (Lifts) for convenience of the people, employees and the officers.
