SRINAGAR, May 13:

Amid fresh reports of large number of infiltration bids taking place in North Kashmir frontier of Kupwara Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Friday chaired a high level meeting of the Unified command in Srinagar and reviewed the prevailing security situation in the state.
Minister of state (Home) Nasir Aslam Wani and Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand were also present during the meeting and took review of the security situation in the state. The top brass of the Northern command including corps commander of IX, XIV,XV, XVI core also attended the meeting and briefed the Chief Minister about the prevailing situation along the line of control and in the hinterland.
The army officers also briefed the Chief Minister over various steps taken by the armed forces to reach out to the local residents in the state to win their hearts and minds, official sources said. The senior police officers including DGP Kuldeep Khoda, IG's of Jammu and Kashmir range besides senior officers of the CRPF, BSF, and central and state intelligence agencies also attended the meeting and took review of the preparedness of the security forces and central paramilitary forces ahead of start of annual Amarnath pilgrimage.
The Chief Minister also shared his thoughts with the top brass of the security forces and the police officers and urged them to discharge their duties with full sincerity and exercise utmost care while dealing with the issues of the civilian population and street protests in remote areas of the state. Omar Abdullah also urged upon the forces to remain in a state of high alert in the coming months especially along the border and the line of control to foil infiltration bids.
