| Guest Room complex for other ranks inaugurated at Udhampur | | | Udhampur, Nov 20
Mrs Sarita Chopra, President AWWA, 71 Sub Area, inaugurated ASHIANA, a unique guest house for other ranks and their families today at the 5071 ASC Battalion. A pioneering welfare concept in the station, it is first such infrastructure to cater for lodging and boarding of families of soldiers who visit them for a short duration to see the tourist and religious places of interest of J&K. It boasts of facilities at par with the best possible in station and is aptly named ASHIANA: home away from home. Complimenting the unit for the excellent facility and thoughtful concept Mrs Chopra hoped that it would provide an opportunity to people from other regions of the country to visit J&K and get a first hand account of the rich customs and][ traditions of the state.
Brig KK Chopra, VSM Cdr 71 Sub Area who also graced the occasion opined that such a measure would go a long way in improving the quality of life of soldiers who have been selflessly guarding the frontiers as well as ensuring internal security. A large number of officers and families of jawans were present on the occasion. The inimitable infrastructure is a novel method to address the aspirations of men in uniform on whose responsible soldiers rest the safety and security of our great nation.
