Shahbaz hits 88 as Shastri demolishes Samba XI | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 14: Shastri Cricket Club today sent Samba XI packed making it an emphatic 160 runs win to move into the next round of ongoing 2nd Pran Nath Malhotra Memorial Cricket Tournament at GGM Science College hostel ground, here. Guided by the superb knock of 88 runs from Shahbaz Ahmed, Shastri Club set a mammoth total of 271 runs in stipulated 50 overs. Shabaz hit 11 boundaries in his fabulous innings. Sachin and Varun Puri contributed 37 and 36 runs to the teams total respectively. Both these batsmen hit seven fours in their respective knocks. Arjun and Mayank shared three wickets each from Samba XI. In reply, Samba XI, bowled out cheaply at a meager total of 111 runs in 31.2 overs thus lost the match by a huge margin of 160 runs. Sidhant Singh Bagal was the only major contributor with 29 runs in 62 balls innings. Mohit Puri was most successful bowler from Shastri Club who claimed three wickets for 30 runs in seven overs he bowled. Nitin and Mohit Khajuria claimed two wickets each and Kuldeep one. The match was officiated by Ashwani Sharma and Sadiq Hussain Malik as umpires while Ajay Kumar was the official scorer.
