Simula scripts 8-wkt win in preparatory game

JAMMU, May 14: Simula Cricket Club (SCC) registered an eight-wicket win over Rehari Cricket Club (RCC) in a preparatory friendly match or the ongoing JKCA’s Prof Pran Nath Malhotra Memorial Cricket Tournament at MA Stadium, here today.
Chasing a decent target of 158 runs set by Rehari Cricket Club, Simula openers sent the opponent bowlers on a leather-hunt from the word go by smashing right-arm medium fast bowler for 15 runs in his and the innings’ very first over. Hilal scored 56 runs in just 33 balls with 10 boundaries and two sixes.
Before being dismissed by left-arm spinner Dilbag Singh with beauty of a delivery, the team was already in the driver’s seat. He was nicely supported by his opening partner Irshad, who made valuable 34 runs before being dismissed, while first class cricketers Dhruv Mahajan and Hardeep Singh remained unbeaten on 39 and 12 runs respectively. For RCC, Dilbagh Singh and Anoop Mangotra took one wicket each.
Earlier, batting first, Rehari Cricket Club, rode on superb knocks by Sahil Bhalwal and Aditya Pratap Singh to manage a good total of 157 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Sahil made brilliant 54 runs in just 37 balls including seven fours and one six, while Aditya contributed 44 runs in 32 balls with the help of eight boundaries.
Vikrant Taggar contributed 14-ball 26 runs. Irshad was the pick of the bowlers for Simula Cricket Club, who took three wickets while Neeraj was the other successful bowler, bagging two wickets.
