French language quiz competition held

Jammu, May 14: A French language quiz competition was held Saturday at K.C. Gurukul School, in which six teams from different schools participated.
The competition was organized by the French Language Club, (Club de Francais) Jammu.
To make the quiz interesting and easy for the audience to understand, the questions were framed in the English language to which the participants answered in French.
DIG, Traffic Jammu, Danesh Rana was the chief guest on the occasion whereas Maansi Gupta, director of the JD Institute of fashion technology was the guest of honor.
Six teams from six different schools having French language in their syllabus took part in the competition. Each team comprised of 3 students. The schools included KC Gurukul, Banyan International, Heritage School, Jodhamal Public School, D.P.S Jammu and G.D. Goenka that took part in the competition.
D.P.S. Jammu stood first, Heritage school stood second and GD Goenka third.
Danesh Rana appreciated the initiative taken by the French language club to highlight the foreign language in Jammu.
“French language is one of the most spoken foreign languages and such an exposure to the people of Jammu would greatly help them in a long run” Rana said.
Maansi Gupta also praised the French language club and its members for such an event. She said that quiz competition in a foreign language will give a lot of exposure to the children in Jammu. She also appreciated the school authorities for making the event a success.
Principal of the K.C Gurukul BR Dogra said that French has emerged as a very influential and an important language in the European countries and has emerged as an essential tool for getting jobs.
Arun Sharma who is the instructor of French language and also the president of French Language Club said “employment is a significant advantage to learning a second language. Bilinguals have access to a wider range of national and international jobs. Thousands of Canadian businesses operate in both French and English. The airlines, import-export companies, and other international businesses require employees with French language skills”.
Tanveer kour presented the welcome speech and Mandeep Singh gave the vote of thanks. Stuti, coordinator of JD Institute of fashion technology was also present.
More than 70 French knowing people have so far become the members of French Club that was formed last year.
Logistic support and guidance was provided by KC Gurukul whereas, Hal Special Basmati rice sponsored the function.
