Natrang celebrates Foundation Day, performs play Ghaat Ki Naav | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, May 15: Natrang celebrated its 29th Foundation Day while staging Hindi play ‘Ghaat Ki Naav’ written by Balwant Gargi under the direction of Neeraj Kant at Natrang Studio Theatre, Jammu. Natrang was founded by its founder director Balwant Thakur and the first executive of Natrang included Vijay Attri (president), Prabodh Jamwal (general secretary), Arun Sharma (vice president) and Aasha Arora (public relations secretary). In last twenty-eight years Natrang emerged as one of the most theatre happening centre of India and made its global presence with its outstanding theatrical ventures. In these years the group produced 300 plays and did over 5500 shows within and outside the country. Speaking on the occasion Natrang Director, Balwant Thakur said that in these over 10,200 days, we never had the occasion to sit without work and almost put our 24X7 in realizing this vision called Natrang. Natrang was started as a movement and over the years it gained momentum and finally it established the cultural and intellectual identity of this region on the world map. On this occasion he thanked all those who contributed selflessly and helped in the creation of undisputed cultural brand Natrang. He sought the support and blessings of all to make Natrang as the ultimate International destination of art lovers. Today’s play revolved around a triangular relationship which unfolded various aspects of love relations. ‘Deepo’- a young beautiful lady is deserted by her husband ‘Surjeet’ on the pretext that she had once an affair with another youth of the village ‘Sunder’. But the fact was that it was more of a silent relation between them before marriage, though they had some inclination for each other but could never had the occasion to meet each other. After the marriage of Deepo, destiny offered them an occasion to meet once. At that moment they were about express the feelings for each other but suddenly her husband Surjeet appears. Suspecting a strong relation between them he in anguish leaves his home and village for an unknown destination. Back home she is left with her sister-in law and an old Aunt who is suffering with multiple health problems. Both these young ladies struggle a lot for their survival and the healthcare of their Aunt. These sufferings with these ladies continue for over four years. One day their Aunt suffers an attack Deepo runs in the village for help. Here she comes across with Sunder. By the time she is narrating her wale to Sunder, suddenly Surjeet appears in the scene who had made-up his mind to forgive Deepo. Seeing them again together, his suspicion further deepens and he despite Deepo’s pleads leaves her for ever. Neeraj Kant as ‘Sunder’ was remarkable in his performance; he was equally supported by Rahul Singh as Surjeet, Tajsvi Sharma as ‘Deepo’ and Nikarika Sharma as ‘Laajo’ brilliantly. Aaina Sharma in the role of ‘Bua’ did justice to her character. Lights were designed by Mohit Sharma, Gaurav Triyal scored the Music and Mohd Yaseen did the sets. The show was coordinated by Sumeet Sharma.
