NSF celebrates 104th birth anniversary of martyr Sukhdev

Jammu My 15: .National Secular Forum (NSF), Jammu Unit today organized a programme in Jammu University on the birth anniversary of Sukhdev who laid down his life for the country.
Amid slogans “Sukhdev Amar Rahe ‘”Inqulaab Zindabad” ‘Bharat Mata Ki
Jai”, they paid tributes to Sukhdev and garlanded the portrait of the son of soil.
Ankush Abrol, member working committee JKCA, was chief guest, Rakesh Chib president JURSEA presided over the function while Vikas Sharma, President National Secular Forum was the guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Ankush Aborl, member working committee JKCA, appreciated the initiative taken by the NSF member to remember the birth anniversary of Sukhdev.
He was considered to be one of the most famous revolutionaries of the Bharatiya Independence movement. He is known to have started study circles at National College, (Lahore) in order to delve into India's past as well as to scrutinize the finer aspects of world revolutionary literature and the Russian Revolution.
Along with Bhagat Singh, Comrade Ram Chandra and Bhagwati Charan Vohra, he started Naujawan Bharat Sabha at Lahore.
The main aim of this organization were to activate youth for freedom struggle, inculcate a rational scientific attitude, fight communalism and end the practice of untouchability.
Rakesh Chib President JURSEA also addressing the gathering said that the sacrifices of such great people could not be ignored, which had secured freedom for the country and its people. He said that the real tributes to the martyrs would be eradicating evil prevailing in the society like drug addiction, female feticide and dowry.
He exhorted the youth to refrain from drugs and intoxicants. He also said Sukhdev was deeply impressed by Pandit Ram Prasad Bismil, and Chandrasekhar Azad. Sukhdev also participated in the 1929 Prison hunger strike to protest against the inhuman treatment of inmates.
His letter to Mahatma Gandhi written just prior to his hanging, protesting against the latter's disapproval of revolutionary tactics, throws light on thedisparities between the two major schools of thought among Indian freedom fighters.
Ravi Chowdhary Chairman Jammu University delivered the welcome address while Surjit Choudhary district chairman presented the vote of thanks.
The whole programme was coordinated by Rahul Sharma working president university unit, Gurpreet Singh, Narinder Singh, Balveer, Sunil Kumar, and others.
