ACC enters semis in Poonch cricket | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT POONCH, May 15: Nawaz Rather and Zafar Shah of Amjad Cricket Club (ACC) cracked half-centuries to power their side to a huge 177 runs on way to the semifinals of the ongoing Poonch District Cricket Tournament, organised by Jammu wing of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association at Degree College ground, here today. In the first quarterfinal played today, ACC trounced Shanker Nagar Cricket Club making it a one-sided affair. Earlier, batting first, ACC scored 235 for the loss of nine wickets in the stipulated 30 overs. Nawaz Rather was at his best, who scored 86 runs off just 66 balls with the help of 14 boundaries. Zaffar Shah also batted well contributing 42-ball 52 runs that included three boundaries and two sixes. From Shankar Nagar Cricket Club, Rajeev took four wickets while Gurmeet claimed two. Later, Shankar Nagar Club could not chase the total and the whole side bowled out for a meagre total of 118 runs, thus lost the match by 117 runs. Ashutosh remained the top scorer with 23 runs. Naveed, Naseer and Shabir bagged two wickets each for Amjad Cricket Club. Nawaz Rather was adjudged man of the match for his brilliant batting performance. The match was officiated by Rajinder Singh and Devinder Dabur.
NEXT MATCH: Purani Poonch Cricket Club shall take on LOC Cricket Club in second quarterfinal tomorrow.
