Govt suppressing aspirations of youth by oppressive means: Mir | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, May 15: Newly elected Member of the Legislative Council Mohammad Ashraf Mir today demanded a comprehensive employment policy for the youth of Srinagar city in general and Zaidabal assembly segment in particular. Addressing series of public meetings in Zaidabal assembly segment MLC Mohammad Ashraf Mir regretted that except promises nothing concrete has been done to provide employment to the youth of Srinagar city. He further added that instead of addressing aspirations of youth, the State Government headed by National Conference has been adopting oppressive measures to suppress wishes of the younger generation. Mir observed that stifling voice of the youth, by brazenly mis-using state apparatus, has been become a policy matter of the National Conference led coalition government. He warned the government that such strong arms methods adopted by the authorities would be proved counter productive because alienation has been increasing among younger generation with every passing day. Highlighting miseries of the inhabitants of Zaidabal assembly segment, Mir regretted that this segment is testimony of the wrong policies being propagated by the National Conference coalition government. He especially mentioned towards deplorable conditions of streets and chocked drainage system in this area which is part of the Srinagar. He said that prestigious SKIMS has been located in Zaidabal but locals have been ignored as far as recruitment in this institute is concerned. He demanded that locals should be given preference in recruitment in SKIMS. He further demanded that a comprehensive employment policy should be formulated for the youth of Zaidabal segment because unemployment is a biggest problem in this area. Abdul Hamid and zonal president Zaidabal, Abdul Hassan also addressed the meetings.
