Tawi Trekkers announces trekking in Himachal | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 15: Tawi Trekkers J&K, the premier trekking organization of J&K, shall organize only two Himalayan Trekking Programmes in Kullu Manali and Dharamshalla areas of neighbouring Himachal Pradesh during the coming summer vacations.
This was disclosed by general secretary of the Tawi Trekkers, Ram Khajuria, here today. According to Khajuria, the Kullu Manali Programme will be of six days duration, while Dharamshalla trek shall be only of four days. “Since the Dalhousie Chamba Trekking Programme is not being conducted this summer, the club expects substantial participation in these two programmes,” he informed.
During the Kullu Manali trekking, scheduled to be conducted from June7, the trekkers would visit the snow bound Rohtang Pass, situated at a height of over 13000 ft, the beautiful Solang valley, known for adventure sports and the enchanting Jogini falls besides local places of interest like Bashisht sulfur springs, the 16th century pagoda shaped Hadimba Temple and the Manali Gompa, an important place for Budhists from India and Nepal. They would also visit Baijnath and Mcleodganj. The trek being organized in the sylvan surroundings of Kullu valley promises an experience of a life time to the participants.
The participation fee which includes boarding, lodging, transportation, medical and insurance cover and supervision, is Rs 3850.
The Dharamshalla trek would start from June one. During this trek the trekkers would trek through Mcleodganj, the seat of Dalai Lama, Bhagshunath, Dharamkot, Dal Lake and Tapovan.
“Both the programmes are being organized in cooperation with Mountaineering Association of J&K, Ibex Adventure Club, Snow Trail Mountaineers and North Zone Sport Climbing Committee,” disclosed the general secretary of Tawi Trekkers.
