| Kargil Zanskar road reopened after five months | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 16: The 234 km long Kargil Zanskar road is all set to through for vehicular traffic as the snow clearance work has been completed.
The people of Zanskar will rejoice with the opening of the lifeline as fresh vegetable is set to transport to the valley from Kargil and all other non local businessman are ready to cross Penzila to establish their summer camp in Zanskar.
Kargil Engineer Punchok Tashi appreciated the role of the staff of Mechanical Division Kargil for their consistent effort in opening the road at time as the department deputed ‘snow clearance machines’ from both Kargil and Zanskar side.
He said that the Operators, Junior Engineers and other staff of Mechanical Division Kargil put great effort in clearing snow from the road.
It is pertinent to mention that the road was closed in the month of January and remain closed due to heavy snowfall for almost 5 month. Even last year the road was opened on June 10.
