| Meetings of house panels should be result oriented: Lone | | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, May 16: Speaker, Legislative Assembly Mohammad Akbar Lone today called for result oriented meetings of financial and other committees of the house, who have definite and vital role in parliamentary democratic system of governance.
Addressing Chairmen of Financial and other Committees of the House, he stressed on close coordination between the administration and Assembly Secretariat for smooth flow of information needed for smooth functioning of various House panels.
He directed Commissioner/Secretary, General Administration Department (GAD) Mohammad Sayeed Khan and Secretary, Legislative Assembly M. Ramzan to facilitate the Committee Members for conducting official tours to outside the State or in Ladakh.
Deputy Speaker, Mohammad Sartaj Madani, Legislators, M. Y. Tarigami, Dr. Mustafa Kamal, Professor Chaman Lal Gupta, Mir Saifullah, Nizam-ud-Din Bhat and Mir Saifullah after holding threadbare discussions over the facilitation of the House committees and host of other related issues gave their valuable suggestions to improve the functioning of the House panels further in line with the legislative traditions of the state.
Mohammed Yousuf Tarigami sought to secure expert opinion from outside the state for framing practical measures to check incidence of road mishaps in erstwhile Doda district. Relevantly, Tarigami heads the House committee constituted by speaker recently to look into the causes of fragment road accidents in Doda. It has been tasked to come up with detailed report to tide over problem of road accidents along vulnerable Doda highway.
Lone gave green signal to Tarigami for roping in experts, saying that problem of road mishaps in Doda has to be addressed in the scientific and practical approach. Commissioner/Secretary, GAD assured of his full support in smooth working of the House panels. Among other, Secretary, Law Ghulam Hassan Tantray, Director General Accounts and Treasuries Wali Mohammad Bhat, Joint Director Information, J.S. Bali, Deputy Accountant General and other senior officers of Assembly Secretariat attended the meeting.
