Ladakh development scenario reviewed | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, May 16: Chief Secretary Madhav Lal today reviewed implementation of rehabilitation package for Ladakh region in the aftermath of last year’s cloudburst at a high level meeting. Meeting was told that Rs. 125 crore rehabilitation package was sanctioned under the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund for reconstruction of houses, restoration of power and drinking water supply and ex-gratia relief to NOKs of the deceased. Meeting was told that about 80% of restoration work in drinking water supply has been ensured and power distribution system has also been successfully restored. The Deputy Commissioners of Leh and Kargil were directed to forward the details of works duly prioritized in consultation with the LAHDCs of Leh and Kargil in respect of unutilized amounts to be submitted to the PMO for approval. Recommendations of centre’s Task Force on Ladakh and Jammu also came up for discussion in the meeting. The centre has indicated an outlay of Rs. 150 crore and 100 crore for the two regions respectively. Chief Secretary asked the Principal Secretary planning and Development and Ladakh Affairs Department to accordingly prioritize works to be taken up in consultation with LAHDCs of Leh and Kargil for being sent to government of India. Among others, meeting was attended by Principal Secretary to Chief Minister B.B.Vyas, Principal Secretary, Health/Urban Development, Suresh Kumar, Commissioner-Secretary, Finance, Sudhanshu Pandey, Commissioner-Secretary, Power, Basharat Dar, Commissioner-Secretary, PHE, Mehboob Iqbal, Commissioner Secretary, Revenue, Ejaz Iqbal and other senior officers.
