Oral health camp for children organized in Rajivnagar

Jammu May 17: Manoti Barki, a Ph.D Scholar from Home Science Department (Human Development) organised an Intervention Programme and a Dental Check up camp at Rajeev Nagar Colony here today.
The camp was organized with an objective to make children aware about the importance of school education as accorded to children in the Constitution of India. Besides awareness about education among children a routine dental check up camp was also held at this occasion in which more than 120 children were offered a clinical check up
Manoti is working on topic ‘Psycho-Social profile of Rag picker Children in Jammu city’ under Dr.Sarika Manhas.
Yogita Bakshi, Principal of Vasudev Kutumbh School, Manveer Singh, Advocate also rendered their voluntary services to the camp while Dr Gautam Sharma, Dental Surgeon, University of Jammu offered expert services in the dental health camp. Interacting with children Dr Sharma stressed about inculcating good habits and general health and pointed out that most of the diseases occur due to unhygienic habits and surroundings.
Dr Sharma told the children about the importance of brushing two times a day and proper method of brushing. He told children about adverse effects of tobacco chewing and smoking.
During the camp free samples of Colgate toothpaste and toothbrushes were distributed amongst the children.
Dr. Sharma said that Health Centre, University of Jammu is regularly organising dental check up as well as other medical camps. Dr. Manju Gupta, Chief Medical Officer, JU is playing pivotal role in organising Medical Camps.
Manoti who organized the camp thanked all the resource persons for helping her in this noble cause and educating the children. She also thanked Dr. Bhupinder Singh, Secretary Indian Dental Association for proving free samples of Colgate toothpaste and brushes.
Dr. Neeru Sharma, Head of Department, Home Science, University of Jammu and Dr.Sarika Manhas appreciated the effort of Manoti.
