Low paid employees hold May day rally | | | Early Times Report ANANTNAG, May 17: In connection with May Day, All J&K Low Paid Government Employees Federation (LPEF) took out a large rally in Anantnag here today. A large number of low paid employees from various state government departments, under the leadership of Abdul Majid Khan assembled at R&B SE Office Khanabal here this morning. Hundreds of employees gathered at the proposed venue and remembered the martyrs of May Day and paid rich tributes to them. Employees from various areas of district participated in this grand rally. May Day rally, which commenced from R&B Office, after passing through Khanabal, K.P Chowk, finally culminated at Lal Chowk. They were carrying banners and placards depicting their demands. Besides Khan, several other trade union leaders addressed the gathering and criticized the government for its failure to release 6th Pay Commission arrears in favour of State employees and pensioners. Khan while paying tributes to the martyrs of May Day strong criticized the Government for its double standards in the matter of payment arrears to the employees, bureaucrats, Ministers and legislators. Khan said prices of the essential commodities have gone sky high and in view of that rate of daily wagers be revised. Prominent among others who spoke on the occasion included district president LPEF Anantnag, Abdul Rashid.
