| More than 1 lakh register officially in first 7 days: CEO | | Amarnath Yatra-2011 | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, May 17: In the first 7 days since commencement of Registration as many as 1,04,341 persons have secured the Yatra Permits through internet based e-Registration facility and 149 Bank Branches spread across various States, for performing this year’s Yatra to the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Amarnathji, which is scheduled to commence on 29th June, 2011.
Chief Executive Officer of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, R. K. Goyal, disclosed that the registration of Yatris has been progressing steadily since 10th May and all the designated Bank Branches are witnessing a heavy rush for registration for the pilgrimage. He stated that of 1,04,341 Yatris registered so far, 56,246 have opted for traditional Pahalgam route and 48,095 have secured registration for the Baltal route.
Meanwhile, the CEO has appealed to all the intending Shri Amarnathji Yatris to ensure that they embark on the pilgrimage only after obtaining, in their own interest, a valid Yatra Permit, through internet based e-Registration facility or any of the 149 designated Bank Branches. This would ensure against any avoidable inconvenience to them on their arrival in the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
Goyal said that as a consequence of the several new initiatives taken by the Board to bring progressive improvement in the Yatra management; all the registered pilgrims have been provided free accident insurance cover of rupees one lakh. This insurance cover has the provision of free of charge Accident Insurance Cover for every Yatri who possesses a Yatra Permit. This facility is not available to the un-registered Yatris.
CEO said that the Board has also issued a detailed advisory (Do’s and Don’ts) for the Yatris visiting the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Amarnathji, which are printed on reverse of Yatra Permit and also available on the Board’s website (www.shriamarnathjishrine.com). He said that Yatris need to strictly adhere to these Do’s and Don’ts, as they have to undertake an arduous trek through high mountains under adverse weather conditions.
