‘Insulting’ remarks on Amarnath Yatra | VHP, Shiv Sena flay Agnivesh | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 17: Launching a scathing attack on Swami Agnivesh for his alleged insulting remarks against naturally formed Ice Lingam and holy Amarnath yatra, the Vishav Hindu Parishad (VHP) said today that he has little knowledge of Hindus’ religious scriptures. Addressing a press conference here today, state VHP president Ramakant Dubey said that word “Shilava’ used by Swami Agnivesh while addressing a seminar at Srinagar that too in the presence of Governor NN Vohra is highly objectionable. Dubey said, “Our religious books like Neelmatpurana, Shivmat Purana and Rajtarangini have a mention of natural formation of Ice lingam and a pair of pigeon flying near the cave shrine.” “Swami Agnivesh’s one point programmes is to spit venom against Hindus,” he added Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (Thakeray) has also criticized Swami Agnivesh for his statement and termed it as unwanted, unethical and irresponsible. In a protest demonstration against Swami Agnivesh for his remarks against Amarnath yatra and shiv lingam, the state president Shiv Sena (Thakeray) Ashok gupta said that the statement has hurt the sentiments of Hindus. It appears that few Hindus want to damage the great religion by their so called secularism. The silence over the issue adopted by Governor is also objectionable. Governor should have objected to such irresponsible statement, then and their, he added Gupta demanded that Agnivash should tender unconditional apology to the Hindus.
