Trade unions’ delegation to visit Delhi, will submit demands to PM | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 17 A delegation of various trade union activists led by President National Mazdoor Conference (NMC) Subhash Shastri will visit Delhi shortly to submit memorandums seeking Rs 5000 crore for J&K state in its current year annual plan to release the payment of 6th pay commission arrears to the employees and pensioners.
The delegation will meet Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Dy Chairman of the Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia.
This was announced by Shastri after detailed discussion with other trade unions’ activists while addressing a largely attended NMC workers rally here today.
He said that keeping in view the special circumstance and requirement of J&K state, the central government would be urged to provide this special package so that the pay sixth commissions arrears of employees and pensioners are settled in one go.
Pleading the cause of state government employees and pensioners Shastri also urged the chief Minister to release the pending instalment of DA due from January this year @ 6% in favour of its employees and pensioners as the same have already been released by the centre and other state governments.
Shastri appealed the Prime Minister to declare Jammu and Srinagar as B-1 cities. He said that giving B-1 status to both capital cities would ensure more flow of funds for upgrading infrastructures and modernizing civic amenities of these fast expanding cities.
NMC leader also sought grant of disturbed area allowance on the pattern of North Eastern states in favour of both central and state government employees, release of wages of motivators working in the IWDP project Akhnoor, enhancement in the wages of daily wages from 125 to 200 per month besides their regularization.
