| Legalizing corruption, only noticeable achievement of Omar’s regime: PDP | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 17: Terming the present coalition government headed by Omar Abdullah as worst ever corrupt dispensation, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today said that this regime has adopting lackluster approach to strengthen the institutions to curb corruption in the government.
Addressing a meeting of the prominent party workers which was convened in connection with the scheduled visit of party chief Mehbooba Mufti in Jammu, former Minister and spokesman of the party, Sardar Rangil Singh said that during the last more than two years, the Jammu and Kashmir State has become an epic centre of corruption and nepotism because the present regime has legalized corruption through its misdeeds.
Rangil Singh mentioned towards utter failure of the government to bring transparency and accountability in the administration.
“The institutions like State Accountability Commission which was constituted during the regime of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has become defunct due to non serious attitude of the present government”, he said.
Taking a dig at the state government for its casual approach in constituting Vigilance Commissioner, he said that except claims nothing concrete has been done so far in this regard.
Pointing towards backdoor appointment on government jobs through open auctions, he said, “This regime deep necked involved in corruption as it has legitimized corrupt practices from bottom to the higher level”.
He regretted that the state has once again been plunged into unprecedented crisis due to mis-governance and mis-deeds of the government headed by Omar Abdullah.
He further cautioned that inability of this regime to response to people aspirations would have negative fallout on the situation in this sensitive State.
He further observed that the situation has been sliding back to pre-2002 situation due to wrong policies being propagated by this dispensation.
“This regime has exposed because it has reneged on all promises made with the people during the last assembly elections”, he said.
Demanding a high level probe into the infamous Cash for Vote scam in which coalition government headed by Omar Abdullah has purchased BJP MLAs to ensure victory of its candidates in the Legislative Council elections, Singh said that this incident was a glaring example of corruption at higher level.
