| IETE Jammu Centre celebrates World Telecommunication & Information Society Day | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 17: The Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers, IETE, Jammu Centre celebrated World Telecommunication & Information Society Day at its office at 126/2 Chani Himat, Jammu.
The function started traditionally with lighting of the lamp by the Joy Ganjoo, Chairman, IETE, Jammu Centre.
Speaking on the occasion, Joy Ganjoo, apprised the members about the technological developments for the upliftment of the rural masses who constitute a major portion of the population in India.
Earlier, welcoming the members and guests Dr. Pawanesh Abrol, Hon. Secretary, read the Presidential message on World Telecommunication & Information Society Day received from President, IETE, New Delhi. The theme of the message was - Better Life in Rural Communities with ICT.
Prof. Parveen Lehana, member IETE while speaking on the occasion emphasized the role of telecommunications in building the society.
Vijay Sharma delivered the formal vote of Thanks to the participants. He emphasized the need for such initiatives for overall development in the field of telecommunication.
