BJP MLAs may not face 'tough action' if they 'confess, divulge truth'.....! | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 17: With all eyes now on the next meeting of Disciplinary Action Committee on May 20, the latest whispers about the current stalemate is something that makes a turnabout of what things looked like initially when the cross voting jolted the BJP : the MLAs facing disciplinary proceedings may not face 'tough' action if they present themselves with 'truth' about the whole issue as to how cross voting happened and who 'allured' them into this act and what they got in turn. Reliable sources divulged that party high command has aksed the Disciplinary panel to go soft in so far as the prooceedings are concerned which is why they have again asked the MLAs to come forth and present their views on May 20 meeting at New Delhi. But more importantly, what acquires significance is the fact that panel members who are the stalwarts of the party would try to 'elicit' information from the MLAs about cross voting episode on somewhat confessional lines, sources said. The party leadership at this point of time is keen not only to take its disciplinary proceedings to logical and fair conclusion but also to expose NC-Congress coalition which is equally 'culpable' in the offence, in terms of giving a political blow to both the parties which are believed to have allured the MLAs using horse trading tactics, sources added. However, this would depend on the real inputs and information provided by the MLAs but as of now appears to be a difficult task since all the seven MLAs who have been suspended as a preliminary action, have turned completely defiant against the high command as well as against the local leadership. Sources howver confirmed if the MLAs come forth in a candid manner and confess themselves without indulging in accusations in waywardness, the panel may not act harshly in terms of 'expulsion' from the party which was earlier envisaged as the only option of punishing the guilty involved in cross voting act. If they speak real truth and apologise for this 'mistake', things would certainly turn different for the legislators, said the sources, confirming at the same time call for coming to attend May 20 meeting is open for all including those who have been given clean chit in the matter. Sources said by adopting this 'tactic' BJP leadership apparently aims on proverbial lines of killing two birds with one stone . If it succeeds in 'cracking' that truth from its MLAs in a soft manner it would not only hit the nail against its political opponents NC and Congress which are already in the dock, but also manage to 'keep its flock' together which is vital at this stage the suspended MLAs already having blown up the trumpet of revolt in loud manner.
