SCS, RTG gear up for upcoming Doordarshan Fest

Jammu, May 18: Shivani Cultutal Society (SCS) and Rangshalla Theatre Group Society (RTG) today held a joint reading session of the plays submitted by both the Groups at Doordarshan Kender Jammu for upcoming Dogri Drama Festival.
All the artists participating in both the plays respectively held the reading session at Chankaya restaurant at Green Belt Park under the direction of Vikram Sharma and Umesh Singh, the respective directors of SCS and RTG.
The plays submitted by both the groups for the participation are Jean Paul Satre’s French play translated in Dogri as “Narak’ and State Academy’s highly awarded play ‘Haadsa, Haqeeqat’ to be performed in the upcoming Festival.
Its is pertinent to mention here that Sartre’s original play ‘Huis Clos’ is already performed in English in the state Academy’s Drama Festival in English version as “In camera’ that fetched best actor award for Vikram besides meritorious ward for the female lead who acted as Estele Rigualt.
It was the first time in theatre history that an English play was performed in a Competetion.
The other play ‘Haadsa Haqeeqat’ originally written by Vikram Sharma again created history in state theatricals by bagging all top Academy awards which include best play, best direction, best actor, best actress and meritorious music.
Umesh Singh has translated this play in Dogri for Rangshalla whereas Satre’ play Huis Clos translated in English by Stuart Gilbert has been translated by Vikram Sharma himself in Dogri as ‘Narak’.
In the reading session all the actors of both the plays were distributed their respective roles who showed great concern to perform in the great plays that have created history in state theatricals in their respective ways.
Those who attended the session included Himanshu Darshan, Aaditya Bhanu, Shiva Bhardwaj, Neha Lahotra, Reetu Manhas, Shagun Wazir, Dipti Charak, Harmeet Kour and Vansheen Mahajan.
