JK demands additional quota in central recruitments | | | Early Times Report Jammu, May 18:- The state government has once again sought additional quota for the state youth. The government, according to reliable sources is hopeful of a positive response from the Union government. Official sources said that the state government had strongly recommended special quota for Jammu Kashmir youth in armed and para-military forces. The recommendation, sources said, had been renewed recently following launch of recruitment drive by the ministries. The state youth already enjoy chest and height relaxation. However, this alone has not helped the youth from the state much. The number of unemployed youth in Jammu Kashmir has exceeded 7 lakhs. The state with limited resources cannot tackle such a huge problem. Special quotas by the Union government in army, para-military forces and railways alone can help settle the problem. The state government has urged the Union government to raise five to seven additional battalions of police. This, sources said can serve dual purpose. On the one hand it can strengthen the police and on the other hand more CRPF battalions could be withdrawn from conflict torn state.
