Thousands of pilgrims to undertake Amarnath yatra from Rajouri, Poonch | | | Early Times report Jammu, May 18: Thousands of pilgrims for the holy shrine of Baba Amarnath will leave from Rajouri, Sunderbani and Poonch on June 14 next month, the day of Jyeshth Punima. A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting of core team of Baba Amarnath Yatra Nyas of Rajouri district held under the chairmanship of Jugvir Gupta. It was further decided that in order to educate the people about the religious importance, historical background of the holy yatra and the interference by Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) to reduce it by 15 days, the Nyas will organize massive Karyakarta Sammelan at Rajouri on May 26. Similar sammelans will be organized at Poonch and Sunderbani on May 29. It was also decided that registration counter for the purpose of yatra will start functioning in Rajouri city from May 19. The speakers expressed grave concern over the decision of SASB and declared that the yatra will start on Jyeshth Purnima and culminate on Sharvan Purnima as per the centuries old practices and religious rituals. The meeting was attended by Hardev Raj Verma, Pritam Sharma, Vivodh Gupta, Yudhvir Sethi, Rajiv Gupta and Satpal Sharma.
