Govt intensifying endeavors to meet people’s aspirations: Sham

JAMMU, MAY 18-Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, Mr Sham Lal Sharma said that the coalition government has intensified its endeavors to meet the aspirations of the people and the common masses are extending their complete cooperation in this regard.
The Minister was interacting with a cross-section of people including representative of various social and religious organizations as well as newly elected sarpanchs and panchs during his visit to Basawa near Chowki Choura. He was the chief guest at the annual congregation organized by Bua Datti Temple Management Committee and Baral Bardhari at Basawa in which thousands of people participated.
Mr. Sham said that participation of the people was imperative for need based and all round development of their areas hoping that the panchayat system will facilitate devolution of the financial and decision making powers to the common man. He said that government was fully aware of people’s problems living in hilly and border areas and it was making all out efforts to mitigate them. He said provision of road, connectivity, drinking water, health, education, power in every nook and corner of the state tops agenda of the coalition government.
The Minister said that faster development of Akhnoor town was receiving priority attention in the policy planning and various schemes in sector of R&B, PHE, Health, Tourism and Education have been initiated to achieve balanced development of the area.
Describing public utilities essential ingredient in the development process, Mr Sham said that the strong coordination among different departments is imperative to redress developmental needs of the growing population. He said that a religious tourism project is in offing and parks and other comprehensive projects will also be started to attract more tourists adding that Akhnoor fort is also being developed as heritage site near Bank of Chenab River.
The Minister said that recent census report showing substantial decrease in state’s male-female sex ratio is an eye opener and time has come to strictly implement the PNDT Act.
Earlier, the President of Bua Datti Temple Management Committee, Mr Mangal Baral presented a turban to the Minister.
Among others, Director, Health Services, Jammu, Dr Ashok Sharma, CMO Jammu, SDM Akhnoor and other sectoral officers of various departments were also present on the occasion.
