Government may receive stiff resistance on implementation of Sageer, interlocutors’ reports | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 18: The Government may receive stiff opposition and resistance from the people of Jammu and Ladakh regions in its bid to implement the Justice Sageer Ahmed Committee and interlocutors recommendations. The people of both these regions including displaced Pandits from Kashmir Valley and members of Gujjar and Bakerwal community are up in arms to resist any such move of the State and Central Governments aimed at grant of any concession to the state that will undermine its total integration with Union of India. The BJP has already made its point clear to the Government and warned it against the implementation of recommendations of both justice Sageer Ahmed Committee on Centre state relations and recommendations of interlocutors saying no decision should be thrusted on nationalist people of the state who are totally opposed to Azadi, autonomy, self rule or any other more concession that weakens state’s accession with Indian Union. Warning Government of serious consequences to its move, a BJP spokesman said that in case Government gives any indication to implement these recommendations the, BJP will be constrained to launch a nationwide agitation. BJP which is demanding the publication of interlocutors recommendation has said that Party stands for total integration of the state with Union of India and it will give a stiff resistance to any move of UPA Government in this regard. BJP has the apprehensions that UPA led by Congress will go to any extent to appease the separatists in the Valley. Besides BJP the Hindu organizations including VHP, Bajrang Dal, Shiv Sena Bala Sahib Thakeray, Hindustan ShivSena, displaced Kashmiri pundits, Dogra Liberation Front, Duggar Pardesh Party, Jammu Joint Students Front (JJSF), Jammu Peoples Forum and J&K Peoples Forum are up in arms against Government’s move. The Ladakh Union Territory Front and Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA) as well as Gujjar and Bakerwal organizations have also expressed their anger against the move. No decision can be thrusted on the people of Jammu and Ladakh regions that is aimed at pleasing the Muslims of Kashmir said Farooq Ahmed checha a Gujjar leader from Kupwara. The majority of people in the state are opposed to autonomy, self rule and granting of more concessions to the state as this will further empower the handful of Kashmiri people to deprive the oppressed and suppressed communities in the state of their rights, Checha added. Calling upon all the nationalist forces to joint hands and frame a united front to oppose the move, he said ``if a handful of Kashmir Muslims on the behest of Pakistan are calling shots why can’t we join hands to give them a befetting reply’’ he added. Checha’s contentions were supported by Sanam Dorjay a student leader from Ladakh. If Government has decided to grant autonomy, self rule or any other concession to the state, then it should accept the UT demand of Ladhaki people also, he added. Dorjay, while accusing the Government of India of neglecting the people of the Jammu and Ladakh regions just to appease the Muslim majority of Kashmir said its polices have been totally proved wrong. The people of Ladakh are worst sufferers of the deprivation through the hands of Kashmir rulers since 1947 and grant of more powers to them will make us totally dependent on them which will not be tolerable to people of Ladakh at any cost, Dorje added. The VHP, BD, Shiv Sena and BD have already voiced their concern over the implementation of the recommendations and they have warned the Government of serious consequences in case it gives its consent to the recommendations.
