Khoda appreciates resumption of train service

SRINAGAR, May 19: Director General of Police (DGP) Kuldeep Khoda has appreciated the role of Railway Police for inculcating sense of security among the railway employees and commuters in the valley.
He also lauded the Northern Railways for resuming train services in the valley which had been disrupted last year. Khoda was speaking while laying the foundation stone of Kashmir Railway Police Office at Nowgam Railway Station here today. He said with the chugging of train in the valley, Jammu and Kashmir Police has been entrusted additional responsibilities to ensure the safety of railway tracks as well as commuters and deal with the crime pertaining to railway premises.
He said that the proposed office building will strengthen the working facilities for the police besides improving the delivery of public service in the valley. It will facilitate the passengers to report any crime promptly and the police to respond quickly to any emergent situation, he added. Referring to the coordinated efforts put by Northern Railways and Railway Police for resumption of train service in the valley, DGP said.
He said that the restoration of damaged railway tracks was a challenging task for Railway Police and Railway Authorities and it was only due to their coordinated efforts, that the task has been completed within a short time. The service has enhanced the developmental activities in the valley and in future the railway service would be playing a key role in the development of the state, said the DGP.
Among others, the function was attended by Additional Directors General of Police, K. Rajendra Kumar, Dr. Ram Lubhaya and Dr. Gopal Reddy, Inspectors General of Police, Smt. D. R. Doley, S. M. Sahai, Raja Aijaz Ali, Owais Ahmed, Dr. B. Srinivas and A. K. Chowdhery, Dy: Inspectors General of Police, Rauf-ul-Hassan, Alok Puri, A. Q. Manhas, Abdul Gani Mir, A. S. Bali, M. A. Ganai and Vijay Kumar, SSP, Showkat Malik, A. H. Bukhari and other Police and Railway officers.
