Separatists react to Padgonkar’s statement | ‘Interlocutors behaving like B-Team of Omar’ | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, May 19: Reacting to the statement of Center’s interlocutor Dileep Padgaonkar – that they were working closely with the state government to ensure that calm and stability prevails in the state – both factions of Hurriyat Conference today said that their stand about the role of interlocutors had been vindicated.
Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said: “We have been saying it from day one, that interlocutors are not relevant. Government of India knows what sentiment of Kashmiris is and interlocutors can do nothing new.”
“Under the garb of political imitative, New Delhi wants to give local administration a boost through interlocutors,” he told KNS.
Reacting to statement of chief interlocutor, Dileep Padgaonkar that they were closing working with the state government to ensure calm in Kashmir, Mirwaiz said, “Are they a law forcing authority that they will ensure peace and stability?”
The Hurriyat Conference (G) spokesperson Ayaz Akbar termed interlocutors as “B team of Omar Abdullah government.”
“They are behaving like B-team of state government. We have been saying it from day one that they have come here to create confusion and our stand has been corroborated from their yesterday’s statement,” Akbar said.
Putting question mark over the credibility of interlocutors, Akbar said, “Even New Delhi who have appointed them, don’t care much about their recommendations. They (interlocutors) have been appointed just to hoodwink the international community,” Akbar alleged.
The Peoples Democratic Party President, Mehbooba Mufti declined to comment on the issue. However, she said, there has been no change on ground since the interlocutors were appointed.
