Authorities urge Hurriyat (M) to reconsider decision to build martyrs wall Mirwaiz refuses | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, May 20 (KNS): Authorities on Friday visited Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq’s Nigeen residence and advised him to drop idea of laying foundation stone of martyrs’ wall at Eidgah here tomorrow. Mirwaiz told KNS that City Police Chief, Syed Ashiq Hussain Bukhari and Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Meraj Ahmad Kakroo offered him that authorities would allow tomorrow’s public rally “but we should reconsider our decision to lay foundation of martyrs’ wall.” “However, we rejected the offer and told them categorically that we will go ahead with our programme tomorrow,” he said. Mirwaiz said that they have made commitment with the people and can’t change it. “Let authorities do whatever they want. We have said it in 2007 that we will build martyrs wall in memory,” Mirwaiz told.
