5/20/2011 9:54:08 PM
Early Times Report
Saaj, May 20 :-
Peoples Democratic Party has served an ultimatum of 10 days to government to open Mughal Road. They have threatened to launch agitation if government failed to initiate traffic on the road till the end of May 2011.
The party staged their protest on Rajouri-Thanamandi road and blocked traffic for three hours. They demanded immediate opening of road besides inclusion of Rajouri-Baflias stretch in Mughal Road Project.
PDP leaders Shahzad Khan, Tazeem Dar, Tahir Lone, Nadeem Sheikh and Ghulam Ahmed besides various PDP workers participated in it.
The demonstration was held at held at Saaj and they protested against the government for snail pace work on Mughal road. These leaders said that state government is not taking any interest in those projects which were initiated by former Chief Minister and PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. They said that either it is Mughal Road construction or keeping Cross LoC trade on, state government has failed to carry forward these projects.
Demanding immediate opening of Mughal Road, PDP activists served an ultimatum of 10 days to government to open this road. They said that the work was estimated to be finished in 2009 but Mughal Road construction work has been delayed due to reason better known to government and Mughal Road construction authorities. “The company must be taken to task for delay in work and there should be penalty on the company for delaying the work”, they said adding that PDP will not tolerate any more ‘drama’ in it and gave 10 days time to start traffic on the road.
The PDP activists also demanded to include Rajouri-Baflias stretch in Mughal Road as the road from Rajouri to Baflias is single lane and it is impossible in future to carry out double sided traffic on the road. “People should be befooled and the road from Rajouri to Baflias must be widened and macadamized at the earliest”, PDP leaders said adding that being pilgrim tourist spot, Shadara Sharif should also be linked to the Mughal Road.
