| Rainfall, hailstorm lash Udhampur | | |  EARLY TIMES REPORT
Udhampur , May 20
Residents of Udhampur were taken by surprise as thunderstorm followed by a hailstorm lashed the region Friday followed by heavy rainfall.
The moderate to heavy rainfall coupled with hail storm lashed Udhampur this evening causing damage to the crops and compounding the problems of farmers, as it was harvesting season . The rainfall and hailstorm on one side provided respite from the temperature, which was recorded 40 to 43 degree Celsius from past few days but on the other hand it damaged crops .Though duration of hailstorm was not much but it caused damage to the wheat and maize crops.

Meanwhile, the rainfall led to disruptions in the power supply to several parts of the of city with frequent faults in the power distribution network of the Power Development Department. Even power supply to essential services remained affected for hours .
