| Rs one crore sanctioned by centre for a road in central Kashmir | | | Srinagar, Nov 21 An amount of Rs one crore has been earmarked for a road project in the central Kashmir district of Badgam to connect by road the Doodh Pathri which is being developed as a major tourist destination. An official spokesman said the central government has approved construction of a tourist road project from Bogur to Doodh Pathri. He said Transport Minister Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen laid the foundation stone of a one crore-rupee road project which is being constructed under Prime Minister’s Sadak Yojana. Later, addressing public meetings at Raiyar and Check-I-Shera, Mr Yaseen said measures were afoot to develop the state as an International Tourist destination. He said in this connection, the government has already set up 19 Tourist Development Authorities in the state to create the required infrastructure. Saying that peace was necessary for overall development, he said the coalition government has formulated long term plans for furthering the peace process in the state which, he said, is imperative for the success of development programmes launched by the government.
He urged people to extend their full cooperation in taking forward the peace process so that peace and prosperity returns to the trouble torn state.
He said that people of the state are aspiring for peace and the government is committed to restore it with dignity.
