Court rejects bail of Dr Avinash | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, May 20: Sub-judge Mohammad Rafiq Chak today rejected the bail application of Dr Avinash Soodan who allegedly beat up an atendant in ward No 15 of GMC hospital here on May 14 last. Dr Avinash was alleged to have kicked Nazir Ahmad in his stomach and on other body parts after he had approached him for the treatment of her daughter who had been bitten by a snake. Nazir had sustained injuries in his abdomen and on the head. He was admitted to ICU in a serious condition. Rejecting the bail application, the sub-judge observed that the conduct of the accused was highly indifferent andinstead of pacifying the irritated father of an ailing daughter, he resorted to illegal and unprofessional act of manhandling the victim to the extent of causing him grievous injuries. Since the poor and rural rustic people do not afford to have their treatment in private nursing homes, they are at the mercy of the doctors working in the government hospitals. It has been often seen that screams and shrieks of the victims admitted in the hospital do not attract the doctors on duty and when they are requested to attend the patient. They feel offended, resulting in exchange of hotwords which even culminate in scuffle. This is a human problem and needs to be addressed by non else but a person known as doctor. The alleged accused had let down the doctors who had dedicated their lives for the treatment of the patients and therefore the accused did not deserve the concession at this premature stage when the victim was struggling for his life in ICU of GMC hospital. With these observations, the court rejected the doctor's bail application.
