Orientation training programme on STI/RTI concludes | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, May 21: A five days training programme on STI/RTI for Medical Officer/ Lab Technicians /Nurses being organized by J&K State AIDS Control Society in collaboration with Directorate of Health Services, Jammu concluded here yesterday. More than 35 doctors were trained during the course. Dr Naveen Chharang, AD STI/RTI and Dr T.L.N. Prasad, Technical Expert STI/RTI, NACO GOI & Dr. Shikha Dwivedi, Programme Officer, JKSACS attended the programme as special invites to the programme who presented certificates to participants distributed. During the workshop topics dealt included STI/RTI programme under NACP- III. Public Health Importance of STI/RTI’s including asymptomatic STI common STI/ RTIs & their complication, health education/counseling for STI/RTI, infection control system, waste disposal, anaphylaxis management and referral linkages, operational guidelines, recording & reporting, data analysis for improving STI/RTI management etc. The NACO team experts and other resource persons including Dr. Dev Raj Dogra, Asstt Prof. SMGS Hospital, Jammu, Dr. Rubina Mirza, Lecturer, Gynecology Deptt., SMGS Hospital, Jammu & Dr. Aruna Verma, Lecturer, GMC, Jammu covered various topics related to the subject. Earlier Mrs Deepika B. Thakur, Deputy Director (IEC), JKSACS highlighted the different components of National AIDS Control Programme being implemented by J&K State AIDS Control Society for combating HIV/AIDS in the J&K. Dr. Naveen Chharang & Dr. TLN Prasad, Experts from NACO through their innovative techniques’ highlighted the different aspects of dealing with STI/RTI infection and the role it can play in combating HIV/AIDS, Dr Shikha Dwivedi, Programme Officer STI/RTI also highlighted the services being made available by JKSACS under the component Sexually Transmitted Infectious Control programme.
