| 17 civilians cross Chakan-da-Bagh LoC point in J&K | | | Jammu, Nov 21: A total of 117 civilians crossed the Line of Control (LoC) at Chakan-da-Bagh point on Poonch-Rawalakote road after visiting Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Indian side as part of bilateral confidence building measures (CBMs).
Showkat Ali, who represents Jhelum constituency in PoK Assembly, was among the 117 persons who crossed the LoC point in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir last evening by Rawalakot-Poonch bus service, officials told a news agency today.
While 82 civilians travelled to India from PoK, 35 went to the other side of the border.
Out of the 82 civilians who came from PoK, 29 were Indians who returned to the state after staying with their separated families and relatives in PoK for a fortnight or a month. Among the 35 civilians who went to PoK from Poonch, 30 were PoK citizens.
Former minister and National Conference MLA from Kangan, Mian Altaf Ahmed, and Congress leader from Rajouri, Sain Abdul Rashid, were present at the crossing point to receive Showkat Ali, who will be a guest of Altaf and NC MLA from Surankote, Mushtaq Bukhari, they said.
