‘Tree talk’ evokes massive public response | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, May 21 (KNS): ‘Tree talk’ campaign launched in Jammu and Kashmir recently has evoked massive response from the public at grass roots level. ‘Tree talks’ are usually held on Sunday mornings and on other working days to cover educational institutions to spread the message of forest and tree conservation. The talk starts with tree naming, tree history, tree mythology progresses through inputs on traditional and modern usages, their distribution and mode of propagation. It culminates with sharing of everybody’s wisdom of tree lovers coming from diverse backgrounds as forest, tourism, ISM, Floriculture, Cultural Academy, farmers, nomads, students, scholars, college and university professors, musicians, poets, historians and NGOs. Silver jubilee ‘tree talk’ (25th in the series) was recently held in Emporium Garden here while the next ‘tree talk’ is slated to be held at 100 years old Chitternar school of Bandipore in north Kashmir on Sunday to mark World Biodiversity Day and centenary celebrations of Kashmir Forestry Training School.
