Clean sweep by Akhnoor zone girls | | | EARLY TIMESV REPORT JAMMU, May 21: Except for kabaddi under-14 category, Akhnoor zone made a clean sweep in the two-day inter-zone girls tournament of Jammu district, organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at Government Higher Secondary School, Domana, near here today. Akhnoor zone girls emerged winner in under-17 kabaddi, under-14 and under-17 kho-kho events decided today. In under-14 kabaddi, Akhnoor zone remained runners-up. In under-17 kabaddi final, Akhnoor defeated Miran Sahib zone 36-10. Earlier, in the semi-finals, Akhnoor defeated Arnia zone 36-15 while Miran Sahib downed Jourian 36-11. The girls’ under-14 kho-kho trophy again went to Akhnoor zone after the side defeated Jammu zone by 12 points in the final. In semi-finals, Jammu beat R S Pura by 12 points while Akhnoor trounced Miran Sahib by four points. Later, in kho-kho under-17 final, again Akhnoor zoen lifted the trophy beating Jammu zone 14-04 in the final. Earlier, in semi-finals, Jammu beat Dansal zone 12-05 and Akhnoor trounced R S Pura zone 18-01 in a one-sided contest. Today’s matches were officiated by the penal of experts including Ravi Kumar, Sham Singh, Narayan Singh, Balwan Singh, Dolly Gill, Poonam Lata, Gagan Kumar, Pavitar Singh, Ram, Tilak Raj, Ravinder bali, Sham Lal, Jeet Singh, Madan Mohan and Ravinder. The finals were witnessed besides others by Principal of the host school, Balbir Singh.
