JAMMU, May 21: All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF) and Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) urges Sikh community to observe June 6 as Black day to commemorate attack on Sri Harmandir Sahib; destruction of Sri Akal Takhat Sahib and killing of thousands of Sikhs in June 1984.
To mourn the attack on Sri Harmandir Sahib; destruction of Sri Akal Takht Sahib killing of thousands of Sikhs, they have demanded that the Punjab government should declare June 6 as a state holiday and also demanded that SGPC should keep their offices and educational institutions closed.
AISSF and SFJ also submitted a memorandum to Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and all other members of Punjab Vidhan Sabha demanding that June 6 should be declared as state holiday in Punjab and also demanded government to issue an official notification of the same.
They also demanded that a memorial should be raised in Sri Darbar Sahib Complex in the memory of those killed during 1984 attack.
