International Forest Biodiversity & Conservation day celebrated

Jammu, May 21: International Forest Biodiversity & Conservation day was celebrated at Lawrence Public School, Panjtirthi in collaboration with department of environment and remote sensing.
A Symposium along with an essay writing competition was held at at the school, the topic of which was forest biodiversity & conservation.
Students in large numbers participated in the essay writing competition. Few students also spoke on this theme & educated the audience about the versatile nature of these forests, their significance in our human life & the need to protect these forests.
The students expressed their views about the biodiversity in the forests & the need to conserve these forests for a better tomorrow.
Chairman, Lawrence Public School, M.M Joshi earlier welcomed regional director, dept. of environment & remote sensing, V.K Raina to the school.
Raina went through the exhibition of posters displayed by the school children dipicting the theme Save Forests.
The RD apprised the student regarding the significance of the Forest, their biodiversity nature & the need to conserve these forests. He appreciated the students for their initiative in taking up environment related issues, he also appreciated them for their participation in the clean up drive of River Tawi last month on world earth day.
He informed the students that all through the world various institutions were celebrating this day & large number of people were getting involved in conserving forests & saving environment.
Later the participating students were given refreshments & prizes for essay writing competiton & symposium.Richa Abrol ,Mrinali Tickoo and Azhar stood first in the symposium,Vasu Chauhan,Anubhav Sharma,Nain Puri stood first inthe recitationandMegha Bali, Isha Sharma, Aditi stood first in the essay competition.
The Principal, Lawrence Public School S.Joshi presented the vote of thanks to the guests & officials of the Dept. of Environment & Remote Sensing.
