| Balakote poll violence: 19 locals, 3 cops injured | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Rajouri : Amidst tight security, Poonch districts border block Balakote went on polls with reports of poll clashes at 4 election booths resulting in injuries to 22 persons including 3 police personals. As per reports, polling was held today in Balakote block for 15 Panchayat Halqas and 108 Panch Halqas. Polling goes peaceful upto 9:30 but there was big clashes among the people in Nakamajeri area of block.
Sources said that the clashes started at 3 polling booths in Middle School Nakamajeri where some poll agents challenged double alleged voting by some people. These agents aborted the elections which resulted in tussle between two groups. Sources said that atleast 15 people received injures. Following the clash when police interfered, they were also beaten up. Three police personal were also injured in the incident.
Police sources said that another clash erupted in Aloomora area where people beaten up each other resulting in injuries to 4 persons.
Block Development Officer Balakote when contacted said that they have recorded 70 percent polling in the area. He said that except few poll violence, polls went off peacefully in the block. |
