NSUI holds blood donation camps across state
Rajiv Gandhi’s death anniversary

JAMMU, May 21:National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) paid rich tributes to Rajiv Gandhi by organising a series of blood donation camps today across the state. In Jammu, a state level Blood donation camp was organised at SMGS Hospital.
Hundreds of NSUI activists from various government and private educational institutions donated their blood.
NSUI activists from G.G. M. Science College, Commerce College, MAM College,
Sacred Heart College of Education and University of Jammu were seen donating blood in large groups.
The Camp was organised to pay tribute to Rajiv Gandhi, on his 20th death anniversary. NSUI is organising blood donation to mark the occasion in more than 600 districts of the country and world recode number of donations would be entered in the Genius Book of World Records 2011.
PCC chief Prof Saif-ud-din Soz in the presence of Minister for Medical Education R S Chib, Shahnawaz Shaikh National General Secretary NSUI, incharge Jammu and Kashmir, Dr. Abdul Rashid Choudhary State President NSUI and many other senior PCC and NSUI leaders inaugurated the blood donation camp at SMGS Hospital. Before the inauguration all the leaders paid floral tributes to Late Rajiv
Gandhi.
Speaking on the occasion Prof. Soz, congratulated the NSUI team for organising and a grand blood donation camp in the memory of one of the greatest son of the soil. He exhorted the youth and students to participate in mass for such causes. He described the blood donation as the best donations of all.
He said that we need to aware the masses about the process of blood formation and donation. He also advised the NSUI activists to get united in the fight against corruption and social evils. Giving blood is vital to ensure that patients undergoing surgery and receiving treatment for cancer and blood diseases, such as leukaemia, continue to receive the transfusions they need. He appealed to the student community to ensure that once in a year they must donate blood.
