Ritwan, Sumit, Arvindu lead in State Chess

JAMMU, May 22: Trio of Ritwan Sountra, Sumit Grover and Arvindu were in joint lead with three points each on the opening day of the two-day State Open Chess Championship, organized by All J&K Chess Association at Hotel Nek, here today.
All these three leaders have won three matches each on the day one. However, it will be interesting when they take on each other in the following rounds tomorrow to decide the winner.
According to the organisers, top four players out of this state championship will represent J&K in the forthcoming National Challenger Meet to be held at Aurangabad in Maharashtra from June 15.
Meanwhile, general secretary of the Association, Baldev Raj said, “To boost young participants, the Association has decided to organize Rs 3,000 prize money tournament on last Sunday of every month for children born on or after 01.01.1995.”
