Save leaders from being killed: Bilal Lone to people | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Kralpora (Kupwara), May 22 (KNS): Urging Kashmiris to save their leaders from getting killed, senior Hurriyat Conference (M) leader and Peoples Conference head, Bilal Gani Lone, Sunday urged separatist leaders to work with people at ground level instead of making sermons after Friday prayers. Addressing a massive rally organized by Peoples Conference to commemorate death anniversaries of Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq and PC founder, Khawaja Abdul Gani Lone, here, Bilal said, “Friday speeches won’t work. Leadership should work with people on ground. We have to strategize for Azadi and not for power.” Quoting recent killing of Jamiat Ahle Hadees president, Moulana Showkat Ahmad Shah, the PC chief said, “Moulana sahib was remembered for a few days, then we will commemorate his anniversaries. Kashmiris have to preserve their leadership as hostile political thinking has been made against the leadership. Some political quarters create such atmosphere where leaders are targeted.” Terming Kashmiris as principal party of Kashmir dispute, the PC chief said, “If leaders are killed the way they have been killed in the last 20-years, who will represent Kashmiris.” Terming Pakistan as well wisher of Kashmiris, Bilal said, “Our stand is clear. First Kashmir and Kashmiris and then India and Pakistan. Pakistan is a well wisher of Kashmiris.” Lambasting those who he said used to conspire against him and Prof Abdul Gani Bhat last year, Bilal said, “No one can make sell out of Kashmir.” He asked the people to keep their eyes and ears open. “Our political opponents and some newspaper columnists are hell bent to kill our political ideology. Those among you who can write well should give reply to those columnists.” On unity efforts within separatist groups, Bilal said, “Everybody talks about unity. For unity there should be political consensus first. Our group (Peoples Conference) isn’t at war with any one. If some one will walk one step, we are ready to walk two,” he added. Bilal castigated those parties who he said were projecting themselves as representatives of people of Jammu and Kashmir. “They don’t have presence even at Mohall level, but claim they represent Jammu and Kashmir.” The people including women and children from across Kupwara had converged on the Karalpora Chowk to pay homage to Gani Lone.
