Coalition failed to carry forward pro-people agenda: Mehbooba

UDHAMPUR, May 22 : Reiterating resolve of her party to restore lasting peace in the state, president of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti today said that previous PDP-Congress regime had build an atmosphere of trust and confidence in the State.



Addressing a meeting of party workers at Udhampur which was organized by district president of the party Sukhdev Sharma, Mehbooba Mufti said that PDP led regime, through its conviction and sincerity, had facilitated peace and reconciliation process not only within the State, but throughout the country.

She specially mentioned that during the previous PDP-Congress regime not only developmental activities were accelerated but efforts to restore peace also gone simultaneously.

“It was only due to the visionary policies of PDP that peace started grew manifold after 2002 onwards resulting into the historical speech of former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee in which he had announced to solve Kashmir problem under the purview of humanity and had also extended the hand of friendship towards Pakistan”, she said.

“ Instead of consolidating the process of peace and reconciliation this regime has left no stone unturned to vitiate the atmosphere by its mishandling and mis-goverance in the State”.

Pointing towards results of the on-going Panchayat elections, she said overwhelming response of the PDP in these elections was endorsement of the pro-peace agenda of the party.

Further highlighting achievements of the previous PDP led regime, she said that everything was distributed equally with in all regions of the State be it Universities, colleges, schools or primary health centres”, she said.

Pointing towards demands raised by the local people, she stressed on the need of effectively exploiting tourism potential to create job avenues of the local youth.

She demanded that tourism destinations in Udhampur namely Panchari, Sudhmahadev, Patnitop, Sanasar, Mantalia etc should be properly developed to attract maximum number of tourists which will provide job opportunities to the youth of the areas.

Ex-MLC Ved Mahajan, while speaking on the occasion, said that victory of such a large number of PDP supported Sarpanches and Panches in the on-going Panchayat elections is a clear indication that people have realized only PDP has vision to address their aspirations.

Meanwhile, the PDP , District president Kathua, Surinder Singh also regreatted that tge present government has failed to solve the problems being faced by the farmers and the une,ployed youth in the state.

He said that the Congress Supremo, Sonia Gandhi should also take some serious steps to provide some relief to the framers and also take concrete steps to deal with increasing unemployment in the state.

He further pointed towards non availability of water in the canals especially in the tail ends due to failure of the government to properly conduct de-silting of the canals.

He further regretted that despite repeated demands of the farmers, government has failed to provide seeds and fertilizers in time.

Pointing towards failure of the state government to get the annual plan finalized, Surinder Singh that almost five months have already been passed but the government has yet to get the annual plan finalized which reflects non serious approach of the present regime as far as initiating developmental activities are concerned.
