MCJ launches drive against unauthorized constructions | | | EARLY TIMES RAPORT Jammu, May 23: Municipal Corporation Jammu, while continuing the drive against the unauthorized constructions and violation of land use demolished the ongoing construction of four shops which were being raised by one Raju unauthorizedly at Channi Rama Bye Pass Road. The demolition process was held under the directions of the S.C Sawhney Commissioner, Municipal Corporation. Besides this, the Health Officer of Jammu Municipal Corporation alongwith team of Food Inspectors seized about 1500 kgs of coloured / recycled polythene carry bags from load carrier in the ware house area and also sealed the premises from where these polythene carry bags were being loaded in the load carrier. The team also continued the drive to check the quality of food items and inspected about 100 food establishments like cooked food reharies, sugar cane juice reharies, jaljeera reharies, milk & milk products shops / vendors, dhabas / restaurants, fruit juice shops, tea stalls, sweet shops, bakery shops, cut fruits reharies, meat and chicken shops, ice cream shops / reharies etc. in the areas of Residency Road, Sunder Singh Gurudwara Road, Vivekanand Chowk, Subash Nagar, Bakshi Nagar, Shakti Nagar, Shiv Nagar, Nanak Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Sanjay Nagar, Digiana Talab etc. During the inspection 14 defaulters were booked under the provisions of Prevention of Food Adulteration Act 1954 and J&K Municipal Corporation Act, 2000. An amount of Rs. 4300was charged as fine from the defaulters and about 40 Kgs of sweets, cooked\ food, ice cream and 10 Kgs of cut fruits, about 300 liters of jaljeera prepared with un-permitted colours which were not fit for human consumption were destroyed on spot. Further, all the food establishment owners are strictly warned to adhere to the terms and conditions of PFA licenses and keep their premises neat and clean for ensuring supply of pure & good quality of food items to the customers. Also while continuing the drive against the adulteration of milk the Municipal Veterinary Officer alongwith field staff visited the areas of Ware House, Gandhi Nagar, Nai Basti, Satwari, Trikuta Nagar, Kunjwani, Digana, Gangyal etc During the drive 126 milk cans were checked, out of which 4 milk cans which were of sub-standard quality / not fit for human consumption were destroyed on spot. The team had also lifted 16 stray animals from the areas of CPO Chowk, Amphalla, Sarwal, Janipur, Bantalab, Paloura, Rehari, Circular Road, Nai Basti, Kunjwani, Shastri Nagar, Gandhi Nagar etc., and impounded the stray animals in Municipal Cattle Pound. A total fine of Rs. 5600 was charged from the erring milk vendors and owners of stray animals. Also an amount of Rs. 1000was also realized as auction fee of the stray animals.
