| Court grants conditional bail to revenue official | | Fake gun license scam | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, May-23 (JNF):- Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu AK Koul granted conditional bail to Yaseer Qureshi former clerk in SDM Office Mendhar who was arrested by the SIT and presently in custody with the direction that petitioner be set free in the present case provided he furnishes personal bond to the tune of Rs 50,000 and one surety in the like amount.
The bail is granted on certain conditions breach of any of these conditions would entail the petitioner to cancellation of bail.
The case registered against the petitioner is that he and others have acted as conduits and extorted money from innocent people deceitfully and shared the same with then SDM Mendhar for issuance of gun-licenses in their favour in flagrant violation of the laid down
norms.
The process went on for years together and thousands of fake gun-licenses came to be issued with active aid of petitioner and others by their co-accused then SDM Mendhar. It is being stated that present petitioner and ors would charge huge amounts for managing the issuance of each gun-licenses and the licenses were got issued under the signatures of then SDM Mendhar with following the procedural formalities and looking into the genuineness of claims for issuance of
license and even without competence. The fake licenses which came to be issued with the active aid and assistance of petitioner & Ors were mis-used by the licensees in many states including the state of J&K and a case u/s 5(2) 5(3) J&K PC Act and sections 420/467/468/471/120-B, 201, 161/165-A RPC r/w section 3/25 Arms Act.
