Militant 'cast vote' in Rajouri Panchayat election | How his name figure in voter list?: Axe may fall on local BLO | | Amit Sharma EARLY TIMES REPORT rajouri, May 23: Believe it or not, a militant wanted for the last 5 years in various murder cases can come and cast vote in panchayat elections. The answer is absolutely no but a militant whose name figured in voter list has reportedly cast his vote in Panchayat elections held on April 30 in Budhal tehsil of Rajouri district. It is not confirmed whether militant has himself cast vote or someone has casted proxy vote on his name. The matter came to the limelight on Monday when a person of Morha village namely Haji Mir Hussain filled his election petition before appellate court of Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajouri seeking re-election in the area. In the petition, Choudhary Mir Hussain said that a militant Mohammad Ayoub son of Sian resident of Morha Panchayat of Kotranka has cast his vote on the day of election at Ward number 4 Morha. Mohammad Ayoub had surrendered and later absconded again in 2006 after killing some cops in Budhal area. Although it is yet to be confirmed whether the militant has himself cast his vote or it may be proxy vote but it is strange that how his name figure in the voter list. Sources said that the militants name figures at Serial Number 84 of Ward Number 4 and Khana number 21 in the Panchayat election voter list of Morha panchayat. His name also figures at 447 in the voter list of assembly / parliamentary elections. As per sources an FIR bearing number 75/06 under section 302/307, 120-B/121, 122/323 RPC and 7/25, 26/27 IAA has been registered in Police Station Kandi in this regard after he was found involved in murder of a BSF cop. Beside the FIR, First Judicial Magistrate Kotranaka vide Missal Number 84 dated January 1, 2007 has issued warrants against him. Sources said that Senior Superintendent of Police Rajouri vide his letter number VRK/Absc/07/121-130/DPO dated March 2, 2007 issued directions to all Police Stations in his jurisdiction to arrest the person and inform the reports about the said person to SSP office on weekly basis. In his petition, Mir Hussain has attached all relevant documents and he has sought immediate re-election in the Panchayat. He has not only disclosed one proxy vote but has given a list of hundreds of votes which have been polled twice at different wards in the same panchayat. Although it is secondary question that was militant cast vote or not but who register is vote or why his vote was not deleted is big question and it speaks itself about the work of concerned Block Level Officer who is responsible for making voter lists. |
